Waiting for the all-new 2016 Camaro to arrive, all of us here at Felix Sabates Chevrolet Cadillac have felt like six-year olds waiting for Santa. But the day has finally arrived and we couldn’t be more excited. This new 6th-generation Chevy Camaro, while it may look familiar, is completely redesigned from the wheels up. The new chassis design, new engine choices and even a new weight-loss plan (Camaro is 200 pounds lighter than last year) have all combined to make this newest Camaro a powerful competitor.

So what does that mean for the age-old rivalry between the Camaro and its two closest competitors, the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger? Well, here at our dealership in South Florida we’ve had a chance to review the specs and performance numbers, and we think the new 2016 Camaro comes out on top of any challenge from those two. Here’s why…

Camaro’s Finer Points

With GM’s design team being given the task of making the new Camaro lighter, faster and more nimble, innovation was the name of the game. While it is both two inches shorter and 200 pounds lighter, this new Camaro is also quicker and more powerful. The biggest engine available is the 6.2-liter LT1 found in the Camaro SS, which is the same engine shared with the Corvette. This V8 beast delivers a whopping 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque.

There is also a 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 335 horsepower, and 284 pound-feet of torque. And for the first time ever, this year’s Camaro will have the option of a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that puts out 275 horsepower and manages more than 30 MPG on the highway. All of the engine choices will be paired with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters.

Advantage Camaro

While the new Camaro is slightly smaller and lighter, it’s also stronger thanks to a stiffer all-aluminum unibody chassis. This means better suspension performance and improved handling. When you combine this with the powerful new engine lineup, this Camaro is clearly ready to take the checkered flag from those other two. Here are some more advantages the new Camaro has:

Improved interior quality

The cabin space of the new 2016 Camaro uses higher quality trim and upholstery components than in the past. This makes for a more comfortable and enjoyable ride than ever before. It also means more technology and more features at your fingertips.

More gears

The new 8-speed Hydra-Matic transmission with paddle shifters is an improvement over the previous 6-speed auto. This newest gear box is smoother and faster-shifting than the previous transmission as well.

Better looking

For those of you who thought the current Camaro was the best looking muscle car on the road, not to worry. Although this new version has been completely redesigned, there’s still no mistaking the classic Camaro profile. Here at Felix Sabates Chevrolet Cadillac, we actually think this is the best-looking version yet of the new-yet-retro Camaros.

Magnetic Ride Control

For the first time Camaro is offered with the option of GM’s Magnetic Ride Control, which has been so well-received on the Corvette and Cadillac models. The improved ride and handling with this new technology is nothing short of amazing.

Lighter and stronger

Yes, we know we’ve already told you that the new Camaro is both lighter and stronger than before, but we feel it bears repeating. The nimble handling and better performance that comes with this design feature simply can’t be over-stated.

All of us here at Felix Sabates Chevrolet Cadillac are thrilled with the all-new 2016 Chevy Camaro. This is sure to be the favorite version in a long line of classic muscle cars that bear the Camaro badge. To get more information or to reserve your 2016 Camaro, give us a call or stop on by.
